TATURA.

THE CONTINGENT.

An enthusiastic meeting was held last week in the local Mechanics’ Hall, when it was unanimously decided to present Private James LOCKWOOD, a native of Tatura, with a gold medal. Mr LOCKWOOD is proceeding to South Africa with the second contingent. The chairman, Cr. C.W. Wilson, J.P., was instructed to wire for permission for Private LOCKWOOD to return to Tatura to receive the presentation and send off, but on Tuesday Mr Wilson received a wire to say that it was impossible to give leave to Private LOCKWOOD to return. The medal, which is a really beautiful one, will be sent on to the authorities for presentation to him.
