A RAVENSWOOD SOLDIER.

Last Friday night (says a Ravenswood correspondent) a complimentary social and welcome home was given in the local State school to Trooper W.T. EVANS, of the Bushmen’s Contingent, on his return from South Africa. Mr H. Stanistreet presided. After the usual loyal toasts had been honoured “Our Guest”, was proposed and drunk with musical honours. Mr James Jenkins, in a happy speech, on behalf of the residents of Ravenswood, presented Trooper with a handsome gold medal and silver pencil, suitably inscribed. Trooper EVANS responded feelingly, and heartily thanked all present for their great kindness. Songs and dancing were indulged in till the early hours. Apologies were read from Lieutenants J. Adams and E. Mitchell, Fifth Battalion.
