QUEENSTOWN.

On Friday evening last Trooper S. HARRIS of the third Victorian contingent, who arrived from South Africa recently by the Morayshire, was presented with a gold albert chain and shield, suitably inscribed, at a social tendered to him as a welcome home. Mr J.O. Hughes was chairman, and made the presentation, and his remarks were endorsed by the Rev. J. Francis. Trooper HARRIS, in returning thanks, gave a thrilling account of his experiences in South Africa, and particularly of the siege of the convoy at Elands River.
