Philadelphia.

On Saturday night a presentation took place at Philadelphia Miners’ Hall. The chair was taken by Councillor Parfitt [?]. An excellent company had assembled. Mr A. SAYERS was handed a solid gold double albert and medal, with inscription, and also gold match-box and silver-mounted pipe in case, on his return from South Africa, where he has served for two years as a Reservist in the Durham Light Infantry. Councillor Davison made the presentation, and other speakers were Messrs J. Devon and W. Watson. Amongst those present were Messrs Thos. Soppitt, G. Young, M. Boddy, and W. Edgar. Refreshments were supplied by Councillor Davison, and an enjoyable evening was spent. The programme was rendered by Mr and Miss Devon, violin soloists; Messrs J. Drummond, J. Harrison, J. Tonks, J. Tindale, and J. Maling.
