A Handsome Presentation to Pte. Andrew LAIRD.

Napanee, Feb. 14.

On Tuesday night Pte. Andrew LAIRD was made happy by the gift of a gold watch and chain and locket, by friends and admirers. The township of North Fredericksburgh presented the gold watch and his many friends in and about town subscribed willingly for the chain and locket. Both the watch and locket were neatly inscribed with the initials “A.L.” and the words, “To a Paardeberg hero from a few Napanee friends”. The young man was taken by surprise but made a feeling reply. Pte. LAIRD left last night for Buffalo, where he has the promise of a situation on the police force of that city.
