MILLIE, Monday.

On Saturday night Troopers James Daniel DUFF and Edward John DUFF of the Bushmen's Contingent were banqueted. Mr Albert Eckford presided. Mr G. Dale presented the troopers with handsome gold medals suitably inscribed, and a purse of sovereigns each. Both lads, who are natives of Millie, are very popular. On Sunday, when they were leaving, the patriotism of the gathering knew no bounds.

1ST BUSHMEN'S CONTINGENT.

Trooper James Daniel DUFF, of the First Bushmen's Contingent, killed at Elands River battle on August 4, was 24 years of age, a fine specimen of a man, very popular in Millie district, and considered to be one of the most accomplished horsemen in the contingent. Before deceased left, he and his brother, who is also a member of the contingent, were tendered a banquet by the residents, at which they were presented with a gold medal and purse of sovereigns. Deceased's father, Mr Jas. Duff, is a resident of the Millie district of forty years' standing.
