A RETURNED SOLDIER.
SEYMOUR, Saturday.
A welcome home social was tendered to Sergeant G. FITZGERALD at Mr Spier’s, Mangalore, last evening. Mr W.G. Milroy occupied the chair, and on behalf of the residents presented a handsome gold medal to the returned soldier. The medal was inscribed – "Presented by Mangalore friends to Sergeant Fitzgerald on his return from active service rendered to the British Empire in South Africa. 24/1/1002".
