LIMA SOUTH.

On Thursday evening upwards of 70 residents of the district met at the local hall to welcome home one of the members of the fifth contingent, Private T. WILCOX. The inside of the building presented a moat brilliant scene, being decorated from floor to ceiling with tree ferns and chrysanthemums. The banquet table was spread most sumptuously with good things provided by Mr J. Weatherill, of Benalla. Several toasts were honored. That of the guest was proposed by the chairman, Mr Luke Evans, and responded to by Private WILCOX in an able and very interesting speech. During the evening Private WILCOX was presented with a gold medal and silver matchbox as a token of the high esteem in which he is held in the district. After the presentation the hall was cleared and dancing was indulged in until the early hours of the morning.
