Gold medals, suitably inscribed, to:

5th Victorian (Mounted Rifles) Contingent –
1154 Lance-Corporal James KELLY
1605 Trooper Archibald Robert McPHERSON

Presentation made in the New Gisborne Hall.

Note: the Melbourne Age (14/05/1902) only refers to two "gold albert chains". Unfortunately the article does not give a date for the latter presentation. It is possible that chains were given by Gisborne and medals by New Gisborne.

GISBORNE.

A very enthusiastic Welcome Home to Trooper McPHERSON and Lance-Corporal KELLY, arranged by Mr A.J. Morris, on their arrival from S. Africa, was held in the New Gisborne hall on Wednesday night. The young men were each presented with gold medals suitably inscribed, and the proceedings were marked by a rare display of patriotic feeling.
