Silver watch and gold appendage, to:

1st Volunteer Active Service Company, Royal Scots –
7232 Private Charles CHALMERS
Presentation made by Provost Lucas, in the barracks at Dalkeith.

The Scotsman. 5th June 1901

An interesting ceremony took place last evening in the barracks at Dalkeith, the occasion being the recognition of the services rendered by Private Charles CHALMERS, Dalkeith, who a year ago went out to South Africa as a member of the Royal Scots Service Company. Provost Lucas congratulated Private CHALMERS on his safe return, and presented him with a silver watch bearing a suitable inscription, and a gold appendage, on behalf of the inhabitants. Private CHALMERS suitably acknowledged the gift.
