CHESHUNT. — Sergeant J. Slater, of the Fifth Contingent, arrived by the Whitfield train on Friday, and was accorded a very enthusiastic reception at the station. A welcome home was given on Monday night, in the Cheshunt Hall, at which there was a large attendance. Councillor D. Wyllie occupied the chair, and presented the guest, on behalf of his many friends, with a gold chain and medal.
