On the same evening, A Company, of the 5th V.B. Gordon Highlanders, and the St Ternan Lodge of Freemasons, entertained the local men who have volunteered for active service, in the Banchory Hotel Hall.

After a hearty supper, the five volunteers were each presented with a gold Masonic pendant from the Freemasons, while the volunteer company made them each the recipient of a purse containing a sovereign. During the evening a number of songs were sung by gentlemen present.
