WardH W DColonelColonel Ward acted as A.A.G. in Natal, and with the garrison of Ladysmith from September 1899, and it was largely owing to his energy and foresight in provisioning the place that the defence was possible. He became a major in the Army Service Corps in 1886, lieutenant colonel in 1890, and brevet colonel in 1898; and is the author of a book on the duties of the ASC in peace and war. Colonol Ward has served in Egypt, 1885, Ashanti, 1895-96, and as staff officer of the colonial troops in the Jubilee of 1897.Staff
