Russell | Philip Leslie | | 2nd Lieutenant | He was killed in action at Modderfontein, near Tarkastad, September 17th, 1901. He was born in March 1878, and entered the 17th Lancers from the 4th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, March 1900. He had served with his militia battalion for fifty one days during its embodiment, and was then granted a commission, and proceeded to South Africa, where he served with the 17th Lancers till his death.
