Lippert | Arthur David | | Lieutenant | He was killed in action at Vryheid, December 11th, 1900. He was the eldest son of W A Lippert of Eastbourne, was born October 1878, and entered the Royal Lancaster Regiment from the 4th Battalion Somersetshire Light Infantry April 1900, being promoted Lieutenant August 1900. Lieutenant Lippert was in charge of a party of ten men on outpost duty, who were suddenly attacked on a dark morning about 2.15. His conduct is stated to have been most gallant. There were four outposts, and these were all fiercely attacked by the enemy, but, owing to the splendid resistance made by the outposts, the troops in rear were not seriously pressed. Lieutenant Lippert was buried at Vryheid.
