Moore | Stephen Blyth | | Major | He died of enteric at Wynberg Hospital, near Cape Town, June 4th, 1901. He was the second son of Richard Moore of Killashee, Kildare, was in his fifty first year, and educated at Harrow. He entered the Royal Scots in 1869, being promoted Captain November 1878, and served with that regiment till 1888, when he retired as Captain and joined the Reserve of Officers. Soon after the commencement of the South African War, Major Moore was employed on the staff of the Imperial Yeomanry in London, with the rank of Major from February 1900 and then proceeded to South Africa, where he was second in command of the Imperial Yeomanry Base Depot at Cape Town. He had shortly before his death returned to Elandsfontein and had been appointed to command the camp at Greenpoint, Cape Town.
