Trow | William H | | Captain | He died of enteric at Kroonstad, May 26th, 1900. He came of a Worcestershire hunting family, his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather having kept packs of harriers in that county. Captain Trow was 35 years of age, a keen sportsman, and by profession a lawyer. He had held a captain's commission in the 1st battalion since June 1890, and passed the examination in tactics. He volunteered for active service and went to South Africa in February 1900, with the temporary rank of Captain in the army.
