Russell-Brown | Frank | | Lieutenant | He died April 4th, 1900, of wounds received in action near Bloemfontein Waterworks, March 30th. He was the eldest son of Colonel F D M Brown, VC, ISC, late 101st (Royal Munster) Fusiliers. Lieutenant Russell-Brown was born in March 1872, and educated at Haileybury. He entered his father's old regiment in December 1892, being promoted Lieutenant August 1895. Lieutenant Russell-Brown was first employed at Cape Town, but in reply to several applications he had made in his great anxiety to join the army of Field Marshal Earl Roberts, in active operations (his father had served under Earl Roberts's father), he was sent to Paardeberg. He then joined the Mounted Infantry, and took part in the advance on Bloemfontein, but fell in his first battle. He married in August 1899, Kathleen, second daughter of D Colquhoun, who survived him.
