Probably not a number, but certainly a name. You may also find the maker, Mayer & Kean of Wellington, New Zealand. Their mark will likely be "M & K", "M & K/ W" or "M & K Ld" depending upon which period the badge was produced.

I acquired a gold, silver and standard bronze badges from an antique dealer. Sadly, no attribution but I think I do have a name....

Hi,

There is a list of the recipients in the pages of the SA War Veteran's Association journal, called The Veteran. Churchill features there along with one or two of the NZ Governors General. I think that the badges were 9ct but no doubt they "pushed the boat out" for some recipients!
