That is a very elegant uniform! She could easily have been mistaken for a "Khaki" by the Boers, so risked getting shot by them had she ventured near the front line.

Well guys, these days in the SANDF there appear to be many female volunteers. Just looking at the ceremonies last week they appeared to be everywhere, including a female in charge of the Airforce Honour Guard at the Union Buildings.

I am sure there have always been females in the forces somewhere or other, stories abound about female sailors in Nelsons days, highly disguised until their disguise was uncovered only after they were wounded etc or are these urban legends?
