Re: Spioenkop - in researching my book “The Spioenkop Campaign” it quickly became clear to me that it’s mention as an engagement on an ABO Vorm B meant the burgher was on the Tugela Line in Jan-Feb 1900. My book is available at a discount for forummers - contact me for details
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Hello,

It's me again! I've been doing more family research and I think I've managed to figure out the reason for the two different POW numbers!

It turns out that my Great Grandfather had an uncle that was a year younger than him and had the exact same name, and I expect they were captured together.

My great Grandfather was born 30 August 1881 - his family search ID is GCY6-NL4 - Presumably his Prisoner number: 23390
His Uncle was born on 21 August 1882 - his family search ID is P4CZ-H4H - Presumably his Prisoner number: 23389

I think I've also found out who the man in his forties was born 5 April 1857, his family search ID is GC76-H8X - Presumably his Prisoner number: 23388

I think I'm on the right track and need to do some more digging, starting to wonder if I've got the right persons Vorm B though, is there anyway to tell at all?

Regards
André
