Mark, there is no Whelan POW on our database unless he gave a different name which sometimes happened. Do you know which year did he died?

He died in 1943 aged 93.
The part I am interested in as well is the link to East London - he lived there for quite a few years after the AB War. Was there a British POW internment/transit camp there? And did any of the ships with POWs sail from there?

There were no British POW Camps in East London, ships sail from Durban and Cape Town.
