Just acquired this one this morning..

Trooper G. Hermann, Ferreira's Horse - Gudolph according to the roll - I can find nobody with that name in the records... Sounds suspiciously like Rudolph but also drew a blank there.

The Hermann family were related to the family of Ignatius Ferreira. As many sons names followed those of their fathers and grandfathers and uncles etc I would guess that the initial "G" or "Gudolph" is a family nickname used by a twenty something youngster to distinguish him from an older "male" in the family. It is going to be tough to crack this one!

Tough indeed Rob. I already have one to this unit so this chap might well find his way to market.
