Described as:

A scarce illustrated postcard depicting a contemporary view of Diyatalawa Anglo-Boer War POW Camp (The accompanying photo of a press clipping announcing the illustrated 'Diyatalawa' POW postcard is not included in this lot but shown for interest sake only.)

The postcard was sent from Colombo in Ceylon to Johannesburg, addressed to a Mrs H.H. van Vuuren, but was sadly unclaimed and returned with both Johannesburg and Colombo returned letter office rubber cancels, dated March 1902 and sent by CJ van Vuuren. No stamp?

Our search finds the following scantly information on CJ van Vuuren, Prisoner number 107, Christoffel Johannes, captured at Pieters Hill, 27/02/1900. Sent to Ceylon, Diyatalawa. Age unknown. From Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

The postcard has a little side inscription that says CJ van Vuuren, hut 41.

Heavily age toned with some light superficial crease-lines.

107 Van Vuuren Christoffel Johannes Pieters Hill 1900-02-27 Ceylon Diyatalawa Braamfontein, Johannesburg
