1) I would like to obtain data on the Western Transvaal Commando's that fought under Genl De La Rey.
Any burger names would be beneficial, especially looking For Anthonie C Prinsloo. Born 08 May 1866.
2) Which Commando ( Bloemhof ?) surrendered their weapons after Peace was declared at Bloemhof.

Info or references will be appreciated

Welcome! I hope you will stay and contribute lots.
The ABO medal roll here www.angloboerwar.com/medals-and-awards/b...18-anglo-boer-oorlog
does not include the man you seek, and the 275 medals to Bloemhof burgers don’t include any Prinsloo. Outside the medal roll ( which is only 13,000 or so names) two good places to search are the War Museum of the Boer Republics see wmbr.org.za/database-search/
And the concentration camp records see www2.lib.uct.ac.za/mss/bccd/
Let us have any specific questions

Rob D. Thank you so much.
I do have the Klerksdorp Camp Records, which reflect that A.C. Prinsloo was still 'on commando'. (These documents reflect that his 3 children
died within a week of each other, 2 on the same day.) Ref ID 156590 Mrs C C Prinsloo
The War Museum has no information, except for the Roode Kruis ID attached to my enquiry.

But thks, will keep on searching

Uys,
Was Anthonie Prinsloo a relative of yours? If you know any further facts or family stories about him, please tell us - often, this will free up some hidden info from somewhere else

Hi Rob.
A C Prinsloo (1866-1949) was my Grandfather. After the War he had 4 more children, Thomas, Christina, Helena, and Pieter ( my father). Lost everything in the War, fetched my Grandmother Christina C. from the Merebank Camp, and went to EC Sterkstroom, where he worked on a family's farm as a "bywoner'. My father was born on 6 April 1910, and a month later they travelled by oxwagon to Johannesburg, where he transported coal to the mines. Sold the business after a few years, bought the farm Rietkolk near Biesiesvlei, where he died and was buried in 1949.
All the family knew he fought in the 2nd Boer War till Peace was declared, but he never talked about it, not even to his children. All the info I have, is the Camp records of my Grandmother, and the Rooikruis ID document.
Circumstantially one can derive that he fought in a Western Transvaal Commando, and with his brothers, laid down the weapon at Bloemhof. Therefore presumed a Bittereinder.
I am the youngest of his 20 grandchildren , the other 4 cousins still alive are all in their late 80-'90'. So where to search next. I have tried to research AC.'s brothers, but to no avail.
My maternal Grandfather, Matthys Johannes Uys,( 1878-1966), fought in both the Wars. His history is well documented, and was donated to the War Museum in Bfn.
So where to next for further research.
Uys

Uys, you might try searching from the farm names which your Ouma gave at the camp (Cyferfontein) and which your Oupa gave (Matjespruit??)
From what you write, they probably owned no land of their own at that stage.
Another avenue is to contact Dewald Nel to ask if he can find anything in the archives about your Oupa or any of his brothers. Dewald charges a reasonable fee. Email dewald@nelantiques.co.za
Alles van die beste
