Indeed David.

1901 census has William living with his wife in Norfolk. Age stated as 26.
Looks like he emigrated to Canada. I believe he served in the CEF during WW1.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

WIlliam Robert Jex did serve with the 9th Battalion CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force) and was in the R.A.M.C. (Royal Army Medical Corps) during World War I in France. I have his service medals from World War I but his service medals from the Boer War seem to be lost in time. Is there any way to have them replaced? Thank you in advance for any help, William F. Jex

Hi William - Nothing to do with the Boer War or your grandfather's missing medals, but an article appeared in the 7th November 1914 edition of the Downham Market Gazette about your great-uncle who was a Petty Officer serving on HMS Bellerophon. It also mentions your grandfather who was on one of the transports being escorted by HMS Bellerophon. As you can see below, it says he was serving in the 1st Edmonton Fusiliers. The article is much longer than this extract and happy to email you a PDF of the whole page if you have not sen it before (you can message me your email address using the private message facility on the site).
