I agree with Brett, the fghting in Natal was just so intense, I do like your 5th Lancer in particular, though, I often feel that people attach a special significance to this regt, that I don't think it deserved, moreover, it reflects in the awful prices now being asked for these medals.
I wonder if he took part in the early evening pursuit on the 21st of October, many people just assume this, but, there was a second squadron present, unlike the 5th Dragoon Guards.
Interestingly, Green is on their supplementary roll in WO100/115 and is entitled to a Cape Colony clasp, moreover, his transfer to the reserve is also clearly shown too.
