I think it is very safe to assume that particular star was not sent to this recipient, you would certainly not expect to see that hallmark and it could not be worn officially either.

I received an email from Baldwin's yesterday offering the Du Putron group for £2,400. This compared to a catalogue estimate of £2,500-£3,000.

I may need to get my eyes tested, but I don't see a Kimberley Star in the De Putron group?

Patrick,

As Du Putron's group could be mounted as worn that would be correct as official permission to wear the Kimberley Star was not given. Du Putron would have received a Kimberley Star in all probability but it, like many others, became separated over the years (I would guess). You tend to see Kimberley Stars in groups when the group has been remounted after the recipient's death.
