QSA (3) Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Belfast (4617 Pte. W. F. Jeffries, Devon: Regt.)

W. Jeffries attested for the Devonshire Regiment, and served with the 1st Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War. He was severely wounded at the Battle of Elandslaagte on 21 October 1899, and was subsequently dangerously injured in an accident at Machadodorp on 23 September 1901. He died of his injuries three days later, on 26 September 1901.

Also entitled to the SA01 clasp (WO100/175p91).

Sold in July 1977 for £80. Last seen in 1985.

CAPTAIN CHARLES FREDERICK ROWE (BRITISH 1869-1951), Imperial Light Horse, a collection of related items, including a set of miniature dress medals from the Second Boer War and WWI, including the Queen's South Africa Medal, with Belfast, Defence of Ladysmith, Elandslaagte, and Relief of Mafeking clasps, the King's South Africa Medal, with South Africa 1901 and 1902 clasps, the Pip, Squeak and Wilfred, A Colonial Government Service badge, a selection of spare ribbons, a Mafeking Mail Special Siege Slip, No 146, dated Monday May 21, a miniature silver cross medal, photocopies of service records, and an album of 38 mounted black and white and sepia toned gelatin silver prints, image size, 6 x 4.5cm, in small folio album showing native tribespeople, regimental parades, signed and dated in ink on front endpapers

I wonder if these are Boer War period images?

Pte Jeffries, Devon Regt, sold for a hammer price of £750. Totals (inc VAT for UK only): £966. R18,100. Au$1,640. Can$1,540. US$1,230
