There is a QSA advertised on our favourite auction site to the Press Censor's Department. There is verification for the QSA to H Honnet in WO100/301p137.

The QSA consists of the disc only but what I thought was unusual about it was that the recipient (or someone else) has removed the unit. I believe QSAs to the PCD were usually issued with neither rank nor Mr so the only the P.C.D. has been erased.

Did he feel embarrassed about what he did during the war?

How very odd! It was a very thorough erasure, so there was no chance of the offending letters being revealed by alternative light sources or other miracles of science.

Hello David,
Still a very scarce medal and worth having if the price is right!

Frank,

I read somewhere that there were about 170 QSAs to the PCD.

Yoven our earlier discussion about the value of a renamed KSA, what would you value this at? When I last looked, the current bid stood at £28 I think.

Good afternoon David,
I would think even though a bit has been shaved off, its scrap value would be around that, anyway, I'd buy it for £28! :woohoo:
Regards Frank

Frank,

It is still on offer at about that value so worth a bid?

I made a mistake with my earlier number of medals awarded to the PCD. It should have been 120 not 170.
