TOPIC:

A recent acquisition at the Spink auction was the ABO to Burg. P.W.C. Leibbrandt of the Harrismith Commando. Thanks to the good offices of Elmarie Malherbe at the Bloemfontein Anglo Boer War Museum, I now have a photo of Leibbrandt at the POW camp, Diyatalawa, Ceylon.

There are two Leibrandts/Leibbrandts in the photo - both gentleman are 2nd and 3rd in the back row - now for the "poser" - my man was 46 years old and the "other" Leibrandt was 50 - which of the two do you think is the younger man, i.e. mine......?

I would appreciate any and all input.

At only 4 years apart and in a harsh farming environment you really can’t tell who is older. Too many factors at play.
