Droogleever's "unbuttoned" shows him as "LEACH, Arthur John 5744" Pte., D Coy, WiA Colenso, From Bloemfontein, OFS. Related to Edwin and Richard Leach. Believed to be the youngest serving, reputed to be 15 YoA. There is a pic of him in the B@W Budget 5/5/00. The x2 LEACHES in TMI (5744 and 9849) appear to have been brothers.

Looks like there was a transcription error in "Unbuttoned" 5744 J.Leech.
The marginal note for his entry shows "Trans. Transport Dept: Col. Pilcher's column".
My little SONY did not pick up the marginal note very clearly.

Possibly Arthur John Leech, born in the first quarter of 1880 in the Medway, Kent, registration district; mother's maiden name was Billinghurst.
