Any info on CPL Grant 5924 Scott. Rifles, per site he was a prisoner.

Your man "5924 Pte. T.Grant, Scot.Rifles" is shown in Palmer as PoW at Blood River Poort on 17/9/01 and attached to "GMI". SAFF simply adds "released". Quite a few SR lads were PoW that day. "GMI" appears to stand for "Gough's Mounted Infantry" and the Blood River affair - according to Stirling - was known as "Gough's Disaster". There is some reading for you there!

Thomas Grant alias Peter Grant, an eighteen year old iron dresser and serving Militiaman from Peterhead, joined the Cameronians in 1897, not so promising at the start, but, by 1903 he had passed his examination for promotion to sergeant, he was finally discharged from his reserve liability in 1909, his medals would certainly make a pleasing addition to any collection.
