Good Day Everyone.......

I have the following in my collection:

87 LANCE-CORPORAL DOUGLAS FORBES, CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE, TRANSVAAL

There are Two "Douglas Forbes" listed to have been members of E.P.H., the one above and another with the regimental number 54..... Looking at the papers ( which don't show up very well on my laptop) I am wondering if they could be the same man as the name combination is not very common.....

Any idea why this medal made three times its top estimate? Clearly I am missing something!

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (33 L. Corpl: J. Morrison. Eastn: Prov: Horse) edge bruise, very fine £80-£100

Mike,

I cannot find any Forbes in the EPH other that No 19 Harry Forbes. There are attestation papers for Harry but no other men of this name. The nominal roll only lists Harry Forbes.

Best wishes
David

Jan808,

No, so far it is a mystery. Here are his attestation papers.
