Quite frankly, I think that the issue of the Transvaal clasp, in error, to what was little more than a town guard makes these medals particularly attractive, along with the area that they operated in with Max Vallentin himself, in that he would have been well known to it's members.

Bidding opposition was very stiff but I just held up my hand ..... Some time afterwards I bought a scrapbook at a Pretoria Auction . Reason: it contained Vallentin memorabilia. Quite frankly, I don't think that any collector could ever wish for more, it was a truly superb lot.
