His service with the ILH was brief; 5 November 1900 to 11 January 1902.

This from the ILH Nominal Roll (on this site)

I could not see any ILH attestation paper for him.

Hi David,

I have a favour to ask; do you by any chance have the attestation papers for 555 Corpl TC Long of the JMR?

I'm not sure if he is Thomas Clement Long or Thomas George Long.

Thanks; much appreciated.

Regards,
Shaun

Shaun,

His two pages from the JMR:

Is that Long's Hotel, Johannesburg?

He does not appear to have served in any other units, Shaun?

Hi David,

Thank you so much.

Now I know for certain exactly who he was. Yes, he was the proprietor of Longs Hotel in JHB and I have a short bio on him which I will publish once I have managed to unpick his past.

Thanks again.

Regards,
Shaun
