A Very Rare Queens South Africa Medal with Raised Dates to Lord Strathconas Horse.
Officially named to: 400 PTE. H.J. HICKS LD. STRATHCONA'S H:
5 Clasps for Natal, Orange Free State, Belfast, South Africa 1901 and 1902. Condition very fine.
Henry John Hicks served with the North West Mounted Police before signing up for service in the Boer war with Lord Strathconas Horse. After returning home he signed up for a another tour of duty with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles.
Approximately 50 medals with the dated reverse were issued, mostly to men of Lord Strathcona’s Horse.
Hicks was a member of the first contingent of Lord Strathcona’s Horse . With copied roll extracts and sevice papers..

I agree George, I am sure that he will be holding the medal for a while but then again someone may like it..... If it does sell will have to look at my insurance..... LOL...…

About the same in Aust dollars-I guess you might have a couple salted away but if you bought them a long time ago then you have done very well.
