A bit more info on Warren's Scouts. According to "Identification Data on British War Medals and their Interpretation" by James R. Power (OMSA), the entry for Warren's Scouts reads "1900. Raised in Griqualand West". I should have consulted that source earlier (!) as it contains data from Tylden about many irregular units raised for the ABW - and every little bit helps. Thanks again to QSAMike for generously sending IL a copy of Power's book.
Regards
IL.

Here is one you all will like, but I'm not ready for 20 questions, I can take info and build a good profile of hi and working on that, so anyone willing to pass info, please do so.

Major Francis H.R. Orpen, born 1861 in Barkley West, died 1944. Came from a large family of seven sisters and three brothers. Served in the Special Police of the Cape PD during the Cape of Good Hope Campaign. Later the founding Officer of Orpen Light Horse along with his younger brother.

I an open to new info, photos or anything that can help me build a better understanding of this mans efforts during both conflicts.

Thank you,

Jeff
