Henk,

That must have been a rare QSA indeed.

There were at least 43 men. I wonder how many more?

There is now a unit page for the XMR here: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...langa-mounted-rifles

This page includes a picture of a QSA named to the XMR and also a list of the three people known to have served in the unit so far.

I have written to the TNA to seek permission to access the original roll on a visit there next Saturday and await their response.

Tylden gives scant information, just to say they served with the Colonial Division in the Northern Cape. I wonder if they were one of those units that only wanted to serve in the Cape, which is why a number found themselves with Driscoll's Scouts to take the fight to the Boer.

DNW - has one reference to the unit for the Natal Rebellion 1906: www.dnw.co.uk/auction-archive/lot-archiv...=Medals&lot_id=84935

I spent the best part of today in the Archives and found these in DD7/175. They are the Enrollment lists for the Xalanga Mounted Rifle Club 1899-1901..
Hope they are of some help.
