Steve,

Thank you for posting his full biography and pictures.

I have not noticed that abbreviation for Kitchener's Horse in the past. The naming looks fine to me and the colon is used elsewhere to show shortened names. His medal was issued on 21 April 1903 so it is possibly a very slightly later batch?

I had a look for the house online but was not successful, too many other 'avenues' in Doncaster!

Best wishes
David

Bearing in mind 3579 Tpr WH Morris being transferred from Kitchener's Horse to Rimington's Guides on 21st April 1900, I took a browse through numerous pages of the Medal Rolls for KH and uncovered an interesting phenomenon.

The following men were all transferred from KH to RG on 27th April 1900:

3569 Tpr. A. E. Inman.
3578 Tpr. L. Price.
3582 Tpr. H. F. Woods.
3583 Tpr. E. Langbridge.
3585 Tpr. R. B. Dunham
3586 Tpr. T. S. Harris.

There is no detail of their medals being issued at the later date as found with 3579 Morris.

The interesting pattern which strikes me right away is the numbering is so close for these transferred individuals. Please bear in mind that I haven't searched ALL of the Medal Rolls.....yet!

Is it possible that a batch of recruits to KH could have been seconded to Rimington's/Damant's in order to bolster Rimington's? Perhaps the men transferred had little choice but to do as ordered.
One would assume that to be taken on the strength of KH, they would possess much of the skillset required by their new unit.

I also came across the entry for 3570 Squadron Sergeant Major Moore if Kitchener's Horse, whose regimental number would fall between the above listed.
A further consideration would surely be that KH would have been reluctant to release senior NCOs?

I would very much welcome any thoughts or comments on the above.

Cheers Steve
