Thank you for the posting!. I suspect M&E have erred, in that his service in Colonial Scouts would have earned the Relief of LADYSMITH. Relief of Mafeking would have come with the ILH.

M&E say' H. P. Chestney, 1st Battalion, Imperial Light Horse, is confirmed on the medal rolls (his name is spelt ‘Chesney’).'

QSA (3) Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (1423 Tpr: F. Podesta. Imp: Lt: Horse).

M&E say 'Frank Podesta, 2nd Battalion, Imperial Light Horse, is confirmed on the medal rolls, is not entitled to the Orange Free State clasp, and is additionally entitled to the South Africa 1901 clasp. He also saw service with the Fire Brigade, Johannesburg.'

The Johannesburg Fire Brigade is not a unit we often see (WO100/317p11)"

QSA (3) Transvaal, South Africa 1901 (417 Tpr. C. Watt. 2-1. L.H.), officially impressed in a slightly later style.

M&E say 'Charles Watt, 2nd Battalion, Imperial Light Horse, is confirmed on the medal rolls. The roll states that his medal was issued on 10 August 1934.'

M&E say 'Otto Emile Dick of the 2nd Battalion, Imperial Light Horse is confirmed on the medal rolls. He served previously with the Natal Carbineers as a Corporal Trumpeter (No. 259), and his Defence of Ladysmith and Laing’s Nek clasps were reissued on 10 January 1948.'
