Lot includes three University of Edinburgh Awards for 'Best Student in Midwifery, Medicine & Pathology.' He is mentioned in 'Who's Who' confirming the awards.

The QSA to J Reynolds of Ladybrand Town Guard.

Ladybrand in the OFS possessed a very small Town Guard according to the roll. 8 men are listed. The low number may either represents the small size of the TG or the date on which the roll was composed. It was signed in Bloemfontein, 11 March 1908. The roll was processed quickly with the medals being available for distribution the following month.

Of the 8 issued, this is the only example I have recorded.

Hi David, Any specific reason as to why the medals only got issued in 1908?

No nothing on the roll, Ian. I will have a look at the other OFS TGs and see if they are similar.

Certainly not inexpensive!
