Kept by the CSM
Thanks Mark, hope you don't mind if I ask more questions about the document:
Do you know when it was compiled (soon after the battle or later?)
Do you have the original roll?
If you have a copy do you know where the original is?
Thanks & regards
I have a photo copy of the original roll. It was given to me over 40 years ago from an old collector who knew of my interest in the South Lancashire Regiment and had it copied from the original.. It would appear to be a document that was compiled at the time. Pearson's QSA was in my collection.
Thanks Mark, much appreciated.
Amazed how medals lose research as they circulate from dealer to collector.
I don't collect medals but spend far more time than is healthy on the Natal battlefields.
I think it would be wonderful if you could post your copy [probably the only copy extant] of the Roll of C and D companies, South Lancashire Regt., on the Forum. "Their name liveth for evermore"
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.
