Lars - If the Gazette spelt his name wrongly it appears it was a repeated mistake:
The above refers to his mention in Kitchener's last report which counts as a "Mention in Despatches". It would seem likely they were one and the same man - I suspect his DCM was for "distinguished conduct" rather than a single act of bravery. Searching the LG for "Ohlsson" only comes up with references to "Olhsson's Cape Breweries Ltd".
If you search previous posts on this site for "Olsson" & "Ohlsson" you will see the issue has troubled others before you and a "G A Olhsson" seems to have served in the ILH.
This link takes you to Noonan's full write up on the Olsson DCM they auctioned in September 2025.They seem to have found him on a KSA Medal Roll - not sure how because I could not and his 1903 QSA medal roll entry indicates he was not due a KSA. The filler out of his 1902 QSA medal roll entry also had a problem with the spelling of Scandinavian names.
