Hi

I recently acquired what I think of as an interesting group, to AE Tidboald.

He starts with a BSAP Company medal to the BSAP, then gets a QSA with Rhodesia and Relief of Mafeking and Transvaal, as well as a KSA, to the BSAP.

He then turns up again in Natal in 1906 and gets the Natal Medal to the Transvaal Mtd Rifles.

But I cannot find a thing on him, even with such a different name.

Any clues anyone?

Cheers
Ryan

The above link is to a book by a well known South African orchestra conductor, who might be related to your man.

WO100/77 clearly confirms an 1896 BSA Co medal with the address given simply as "BSAP Bulawayo" this was prepared in Salisbury Rhodesia in June 1898, so he was still serving in the force at that point in time, after the 1896 campaign in Matabeleland.
WO100/238 page 50 shows his entitlement to the QSA and all three clasps whilst serving with the force's second division at Bulawayo,.
A supplementary page of WO100/238, page 136, shows his entitlement to the KSA and shows his rank as 410 Sergeant, discharged time expired on the 24th of August 1903.
The Transvaal Mounted Rifles, were, in effect, a composite regiment, created by the Transvaal administration, from their own volunteer force regiments, to assist the Natal government at the time.
