Many thanks for posting the photo of Sidney's record, that's great! I can make out a few charges for drunkenness (which is in keeping with his later service records) and can see that he was recruited in England as suspected. Unfortunately I can't make out too much of the rest, so... what is the best way to go about getting hold of a sharper copy of the image? I live in the UK and so I can't visit the archives.
