James Chambers was born in Weybridge, Surrey, on 10 October 1869 and attested for the 17th Lancers at London on 24 October 1887. He transferred to the Army Pay Corps on 1 April 1893 and was promoted Sergeant on 16 July 1897.

He served in South Africa from 18 May 1899 to 8 June 1904, and was promoted Staff Sergeant on 1 April 1901, and Staff Quartermaster Sergeant on 1 April 1904.

He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 90 of April 1906, and was discharged in 1909. He saw further served at home during the Great War, as an Acting Staff Sergeant Major at the Regimental Pay Office in York, and was later an ARP Warden during the Second World War.

He died on the Isle of Wight on 5 April 1946.

Francis Pickett Pykitt Ford was born Oakham, Rutland, on 3 July 1862 and attested for the Derbyshire Regiment at Aldershot on 28 July 1881. Promoted Corporal on 16 October 1887, he transferred to the Army Pay Corps on 1 April 1893, and served with them in South Africa during the Boer War.

He was discharged on 30 November 1903, but re-enlisted in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment on 15 September 1914, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 July 1915. He was discharged on 19 December 1917, and died on 3 April 1939.

William Benjamin Barfield was born in Shoreditch, London, on 7 February 1873 and attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in London on 20 May 1891. Promoted Corporal on 1 January 1897, he transferred to the Army Pay Corps on 27 January 1897, and then to the Reserve on 19 May 1898. Recalled to the Colours on 14 October 1899, he served with them in South Africa during the Boer War and was discharged on 19 May 1903.

James Bromfield was born in Whitchurch, Shropshire, on 10 February 1845 and was commissioned Ensign by purchase in the 36th Regiment of Foot on 15 November 1864. He transferred to the 50th Regiment of Foot on 21 November 1865, and served with them in New Zealand from 28 May to 16 September 1866. Promoted Lieutenant on 28 October 1871, and Captain on 15 January 1879, he was appointed Paymaster in the Army Pay Department on 23 June 1879, and was promoted Major on 23 June 1884, and Lieutenant-Colonel on 16 February 1899.

He served in South Africa during the Boer War in the Cape Colony from March 1901 to May 1903.

He retired on 28 October 1903 and died in York on 20 July 1916.

New Zealand Medal sold by Noonan's in July 2015.
