Without in any way questioning your Francis DCM there was a spate of Edward VII single DCM fakes in the 1970s/80s.

There was an article written about them, perhaps in one of the dealer's gazettes (Hamiltons? Haywards? Dixons?) with photographs showing the minute but tell-tale differences.

Perhaps one of the forum-ites has a copy and can post it? It would hopefully set your mind at rest.

There are illustrations and text describing these 70's/80's DCM fakes in "Collecting Medals and Decorations" by Alec A Purves ISBN 0 903754 99 1. This advice does not mean I think the earlier illustrated DCM is a fake!
