Good Afternoon Everyone.....

Well it has finally arrived and I can do my Jiffy Bag Dance.....

I have been looking for one of these for a long long time.....

One of the things that I started many years ago was to obtain at least one QSA medal from every British Regular Army Unit that served in South Africa.....

I never thought that I would find one to Irish Guards and so thought that I would never be able to complete my quest.....

Well now I can say that I do have a Guards medal.....

Mike

Well done Mike,a very nice addition to the collection ;)
So does this mean you have completed your quest? if not what do you still require.

Very nice - and one of the first direct recruits, a number of the early Irish Guardsmen transferred from other regiments.

Hi Paul......

At first I thought I had all the ones that I needed but on doing a review I have found that I need 2 more.....

Both Cavalry.....

4th Hussars - 44 Medals issued and named to unit, end of WO 100/ 114

21st Hussars / Lancers - 43 Medals issued and named to unit, end of WO 100/119 p173 onwards.

I was lucky enough to get a 15th Hussars on ebay, 23 Medals issued and named to unit.

I know that many men served in other units but normally the medals were named to the unit they were serving in during the campaign.....

Congratulations, Mike, on another milestone in your collecting career. I am pleased that you have already identified two more, so we can expect more results in the future. Do you also collect QSA's for all the Colonial regiments?

Regards
Brett
