Hi Shaun

The plaque has been loaned to my local heritage centre, of which I am an assistant archivist. This John could be the father of the Military Policeman you mention.

I have John Glidewell's service record and highlights are as follows
Regt no 1586, Bedfordshire Regt
next of kin Father Reuben and mother Ann.
Enlisted 20/9/1883 aged 19 years and 5 months. Occupation shoemaker.
Discharged as lance corporal 23/9/1906.
Served Home 24/9/1883-11/2/1890
Malta 12/2/1890-19/12/1890
India 20/12/1890-10/2/1899
Home 11/2/1899-15/12/1899
S Africa 16/12/1899-8/4/1903
Home 9/4/1903-23/9/1906

Several medals awarded inc India Medal 1896 clasp
Relief of Chitral 1895
Kings and Queens S African medals and clasps:-C Clolony O F State Withebeagen SA 1901 and SA 1902
He died in Bedfordshire in 1935.
